Program Overview
Mind Over Matter® is an innovative neurocognitive functional training program designed to support brain health, physical function, and quality of life for individuals experiencing cognitive changes, mild cognitive impairment, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and other neurodegenerative conditions.
Built upon the Neurocognitive Functional Rhythm Method, the program combines functional movement, music-based movement sequences, rhythm, cognitive engagement, strength, balance, boxing-inspired reaction training, and cross-body coordination into meaningful movement experiences that challenge both the brain and body simultaneously.
Rather than focusing on exercise alone, Mind Over Matter® integrates everyday functional movements with carefully selected music and Cognitive Layering™, the intentional combination of progressively layered cognitive and/or physical challenges within a single movement experience. Participants engage executive functioning, pattern recognition, timing, sequencing, decision making, attention, motor planning, and reaction while performing purposeful functional movements. This unique approach promotes coordination, balance, mobility, confidence, and engagement while encouraging participants to remain active, independent, and connected to the activities they enjoy.
Every session is intentionally designed to create an engaging, supportive, and enjoyable environment where participants are challenged at their individual ability level while building toward long-term functional independence and cognitive resilience.
Mind Over Matter® is currently being evaluated through clinical research as an evidence-informed neurocognitive movement intervention committed to improving lives through purposeful movement experiences.
The Mind Over Matter® Neurocognitive Functional Rhythm Method is an evidence-informed methodology that integrates functional movement, rhythm and music, Cognitive Layering, Musical Anchoring, cross-body coordination, and progressively increasing functional movement challenges to intentionally engage attention, memory, executive function, sequencing, decision-making, reaction, timing, coordination, balance, strength, and mobility within one integrated neurocognitive movement experience. The method is designed to stimulate multiple brain and body systems simultaneously through purposeful movement synchronized with rhythm and music while adapting to each participant's functional abilities, ultimately supporting confidence, functional independence, and overall quality of life.
Built upon the principles of progressive learning, the methodology systematically increases both physical and cognitive complexity through the combined use of Cognitive Layering and Musical Anchoring. Rather than training movement and cognition as separate skills, the method integrates progressively challenging functional movements with rhythm, music, and progressively increasing cognitive and motor demands that more closely reflect the multitasking requirements of everyday life. Each movement experience builds upon previous successes, allowing participants to develop familiarity, confidence, adaptability, and increasingly efficient movement while continually engaging multiple brain and body systems.

Neurocognitive = Intentionally engaging multiple brain systems responsible for cognition, movement, attention, memory, decision-making, coordination, and motor planning.
Functional = Training purposeful movement patterns that enhance the skills needed for everyday activities, independence, and quality of life.
Rhythm = Using intentional rhythmic cueing and music to organize, coordinate, reinforce, and progressively develop movement.
Method = A structured, progressive system that integrates these elements through Cognitive Layering and Musical Anchoring to create meaningful neurocognitive movement experiences.

Cognitive Layering™ is the signature training approach of the Mind Over Matter® Neurocognitive Functional Rhythm Method™.
Rather than focusing on one skill at a time, Cognitive Layering™ intentionally combines functional movement, rhythm, executive function, timing, pattern recognition, motor planning, balance, reaction, and cross-body coordination into one purposeful movement experience.
By engaging multiple brain and body systems simultaneously, participants are challenged in ways that closely resemble the demands of everyday life, promoting meaningful carryover beyond the exercise session.
The Neurocognitive Functional Rhythm Method™ is an evidence-informed methodology that integrates functional movement, rhythmic cueing, and progressively layered cognitive challenges to engage the brain and body simultaneously, promoting functional performance, cognitive resilience, and meaningful participation in everyday life.
Musical Anchoring™ is an instructional strategy within the Neurocognitive Functional Rhythm Method™ that uses consistent song-to-movement pairing to support recognition, anticipation, motor learning, confidence, and progressive neurological challenge. By maintaining the same musical foundation while increasing movement and cognitive complexity, participants are able to build upon familiar movement experiences while continuing to adapt.
Fit For Life offers customized training programs tailored to each individual's unique needs and goals, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Fit For Life offers a variety of specialized training programs, including, cognitive, recovery and fall prevention.
